February 2, 2007: Lahaina, Maui, HI

Joe Sado, culinary student at the Maui Community College, woke up to find his culinary knives stolen from his vehicle at a Church in Pia, Maui . The expensive knives are required tools for any chef, and without them Mr. Sado could not complete his studies. The story was covered by local Maui News and when Maui Tacos Executive Chef and Founder, Mark Ellman heard of the news, he knew it was time again to reach out to his community. Chef Ellman, along with his wife Judy Ellman and partner Shep Gordon have purchased a new set of knives for Mr. Sado to complete his studies. Chef Ellman is hopefull that his actions will encourage others to take an active part in their communities to help make them better places to live. The Ellmans and Mr. Gordon are known throughout the islands for their charity and sense of community. Maui Tacos is proud of them and their continued involvement in the community.
